There are quite a few drug addiction treatment programs throughout the United States that claim to be holistic drug rehab programs. The truth is that there are very few "true" holistic drug treatment

Holistic Drug Rehab Can Be a Marketing Term
Holistic is a term I believe means all natural in treating the whole person, body, mind and spirit. When it comes down to it, very few holistic drug rehab programs detox patients naturally. Prescription drugs are used to ease the withdrawal symptoms ,as well as, to assist in managing symptoms associated with dual diagnosis. There are only a handful of drug rehabs that detox a person naturally.
Don't get me wrong, I think there is a lot to be said for a "real" holistic drug rehab. The fewer chemicals or drugs we use the better and the quicker the body, mind and spirit will heal, but we have to be honest when patients are coming for drug rehab.
There is little doubt that in times of need, people are drawn to centers they believe will help them. Drug treatment centers that market themselves as "healing facilities". While every drug rehab deserves to market themselves, them must be held accountable when it comes to the care they provide. Some patients don't get a second chance.
Holistic Drug Rehab Centers Do Work
While I believe in holistic drug rehabilitation, I also believe there is a place for more mainstream approaches within the drug rehab center. A drug rehab that is able to take the best from all drug treatment and combine that for the overall good of the patient is what I look for. So while a real holistic drug rehab makes a difference in drug addiction treatment, be careful the drug treatment center is providing what they market.
